Welcome Message
Greetings from Hillsdale High School, a California Distinguished School, nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School, a California Digital High School, a Stanford University School of Education Professional Development School, and a U.S. Department of Education Smaller Learning Community Grant recipient. Hillsdale is one of six comprehensive high schools in the San Mateo Union High School District. We serve approximately 1200 students in grades 9-12, primarily from San Mateo and Foster City. Our Mission Statement commits us to holding all students to high academic standards in an environment that provides personalized support. Accordingly we seek new ways to help all students embrace the knowledge and skills needed to adapt and thrive in a world of change. For that reason we have partnered with Stanford University’s School of Education in designing and implementing a remarkable new program of Smaller Learning Communities (Florence, Kyoto, and Marrakech) on the Hillsdale campus (see SLC link). We welcome you to our web site, confident that it will reflect our pride, serve as a source of information about Hillsdale and its programs, and provide access to our staff through teacher e-mail and Schoolloop. We view this site as a constantly evolving means of improving communication with our community. Therefore, as you explore our web pages we hope you will ask questions and share any suggestions you have for improvements. Please feel welcome to contact me at jgilbert@smuhsd.org. Sincerely,
