SENIOR BULLETIN

Mrs. Merport College, Career & Financial Aid Advisor                              November 2008

In December Mrs. Merport will be coming to the classes to explain the process of filing for financial aid.  Packets will be available at that time.  The following is a heads-up on forthcoming information…….

FAFSA & GPA VERFICATION  FORMS

College financial aid packages are based on financial need identified through the FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID) form and the CAL GRANT GPA INFORMATION RELEASE form.  These forms MUST BE submitted no later than March 2.   Important: some private colleges require you file the FAFSA earlier -- check college brochures.

Remember you cannot be offered Federal and/or State funds or loans unless these forms are submitted.  FAFSA (English and Spanish) and Cal Grant GPA forms will be available in the Career Center in December.

PIN NUMBER

To file the FAFSA on line, you and one parent will need a PIN (personal identification number).  Log onto www.pin.ed.gov.  Click on “Apply for a Pin” and follow the prompts.  It’s quick and easy.  Having a PIN allows you to electronically sign your FAFSA application, make changes on your Student Aid Report (SAR), and view your Expected Family Contribution.   You can apply NOW!!!!

CSS PROFILE

The PROFILE is used to apply for non-Federal funds at many private colleges.  Check with each college for priority filing date.  Registration Guide and list of colleges available in the Career Center.  Apply online at www.collegeboard.com
