FINALIZING YOUR LIST OF COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES

Talks with college & university representatives can help you choose schools for your list.  Some schools will visit Hillsdale – as they are scheduled, we will keep you informed through postings and emails.  The Career Center has books, college catalogs, and brochures to help you choose schools to apply to.  Make an appointment with Mrs. Merport or your Counselor to discuss your choices.

CHOOSING A MAJOR --TIPS
  • Not sure what major to put on your application?  Most entering college freshmen choose “undeclared” or “undecided”.  At Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, you must declare a major, and take classes in your major during the freshman year.  It can be very difficult to change majors if you don’t like the one you selected.
  • If you choose a major that is “impacted” (i.e., there are more applicants than the school can accommodate), be sure that your second choice major is not impacted.
  • Look up the major in the school’s catalog before entering it on your application!  What you think the major is, and what it really is, may be quite different!
